Y2Kwanzaa.Org is a partner organization of the Chicago Tobacco Prevention Project and has been awarded a contract to provide our community with smoking cessation resources, tobacco education and to promote policies that encourage tobacco-free living.
The contract has been awarded by the Chicago Tobacco Prevention Project (CTPP), a partnership between Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago and the Chicago Department of Public Health. 30 community organizations in the Chicago area received contracts for their tobacco prevention efforts.
Y2Kwanzaa.Org is implementing its youth development program, the Harambee Honor Society, thanks to funding by the Black United Fund of Illinois.
The Harambee Pre-Kwanzaa Festival is an exciting musical celebration of family, community and culture, featuring Kwame Steve Cobb and Chavunduka, performing songs from their highly acclaimed recording, Seven Principles. This dynamic multi-media, concert presentation teaches the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa.
A collaboration with businesses, institutions, grassroots organizations and prevention agencies designed to disseminate information to youth that promotes healthy lifestyles.
Are given to each young person that attends the Harambee Pre-Kwanzaa Festival in December. Bags contain educational and entertainment items including pencils, magnets, coloring books, toys, buttons, brochures, etc. Most of the items contain or are imprinted with messages about safety and health. Items are donated or purchased through sponsorships.
